Ardagger
A special attraction in Ardagger is a visit to the Ardagger Abbey. The original construction of the abbey dates from the 11th century and is designed as a three-aisled pillar basilica. In the 14th century, the building received several Gothic-style conversions, which were again supplemented in the 17th century by baroque changes and additions. The parish office regularly offers guided tours through the monastery and the church.
The Mostviertler Riesenmostbirne also known as the “gateway to the Mostviertel”, is made entirely of wood. Inside the Riesenmostbirne shows the development of the cider pear over the course of the year. The Riesenmostbirne is located directly on the Danube cycle path next to the Parliament inn.
The MostBirnHaus seduces you into an entertaining epicurean journey through the world of the must. Interesting facts about cider pears and Most* are conveyed in a witty and exciting way to large and small visitors, and anyone interested can also measure their strength at the press game. The MostBirnHaus spoils hungry and thirsty cyclists with regional specialties such as directly pressed juices, various ciders and tasty cheeses from the Mostviertel.
*Most is natural and refreshing! Due to its moderate alcohol content, Most is the ideal soft drink made from pears and apples straight from the region for thirsty cyclists. Only the best fruit of one variety is pressed, fermented and aged in a manner similar to wine, typical of the variety.
