Piazza della Libertá is the perfect place to enjoy an aperitif in a historic setting. Surrounded by monuments is the Loggia del Lionello town hall, which was built in the Venetian Gothic style and is well worth seeing.
Udine has beautiful parks and green spaces, which are shaded by trees and are ideal for relaxing in the summer.
Art & Events
Art lovers will get their money's worth in Udine. The imposing cathedral dates back to 1335 and displays works of art by the painter Giambattista Tiepolo in its baroque interior. Other masterpieces by the painter can also be found in Palazzo Arcivescovile and in the banqueting hall of the Parlamento della Patria del Friuli.
Piazza Matteotti San Giacomo regularly hosts antiques markets and in October the Friuili doc, an international festival with regional products.
Culinary specialities
The region is particularly well-known for its unique culinary influences. Whether cheese, ham, wine or oil, gourmets have plenty of choice in this Italian land of milk and honey. Venetian gastronomy has been influenced by Mediterranean food culture, Balkan cuisine and Habsburg flavours.
