Top sights

This includes above all the magnificent churches and the new cathedral, which contribute directly in the center to the cityscape worth seeing. The large main square is surrounded by lovingly renovated older houses in which today stores of all kinds have opened their doors for you. With the Holy Trinity Column in the center and the large car-free area, you can enjoy a coffee or an ice cream from the surrounding pubs in the summer. The castle is located on the hill of the old town, in whose upscale restaurant you can enjoy a far view over the roofs of Linz. The wonderful view can be admired even more from the Pöstlingberg, which is located on the opposite side of the bank and can be reached by the steepest cable car in the world.

Culture and events

Linz is very progressive and, with the Ars Electronica Center, the Lentos and the Music Theater, attracts more than just visual attention. Museums give an idea of how the city has grown, both in area and economically. During the summer months, the city likes to host events such as the Pflasterspektakel, the Linzfest or the Ars Electronica Festival. The banks of the Danube are also a meeting place to do sports together or to linger in the green and enjoy the sun.

Culinary

In addition to plenty of young companies with innovative ideas and a wide variety of cuisines, there are also numerous traditional restaurants. We recommend the Klosterhof, a traditional inn right in the center that serves typical Austrian food in a beer garden in the courtyard.
