Hungary's third largest city is rich in monuments and museums, the elaborate reconstruction of the baroque city center was recognized with the European Prize for Monument Protection.

The house with the iron stick takes its historical name from the various skilled craftsmen who visited Györ on their roller. According to legend, everyone should have nailed a nail in the corner of the house in order to be remembered with their presence.Today the house with the iron stock is home to the art collection of the journalist and art historian Patkó Imre. These include contemporary Hungarian artists such as Kassák Lajos, Bálint Endre and Kondor Béla, and the exhibition is complemented by ethnographic objects from Africa, Oceania and Asia.

The urban history exhibition of Györ and the surrounding area from prehistoric times to the present is housed in the Apátúr House. The range of exhibitions is complemented by the private collection of the Petz family. This includes medical history inventory as well as visual art and everyday art objects. As well as the private collection of the Abád-Hauser family with an arts and crafts exhibition. Hungarian stamps, from the first exhibition to the 1980s, complete the exhibition.

The town hall of Györ dates from the late 19th century and with its 60 meter high clock tower and an area of 3,400 square meters is the most striking neo-baroque splendid building within the former city walls of Györ.
