Gronau
The striking landmark of the city of Gronau is the more than 100 year old water tower at the city park. A truly unique panoramic view of Gronau is guaranteed at an airy height of 50 meters. Since 1994, readings and viewing appointments have been organized in cooperation with the Gronau municipal works.
The town hall tower, which was added to the town hall built around 1898 in neo-Gothic style in 1907, is another striking highlight in Gronau.
The Schepers Mühle from the 14th century in the Gronau district of Epe, which was first mentioned in documents in 1188 and was incorporated in Gronau in 1975, is picturesquely situated in a romantic mill garden. In 1346 the mill was first mentioned under its owner to the Count of Bentheim, in 1856 the building used as a grain, walk and oil mill came into the possession of the Schepers family. In 1999 the Scheper´s mill was rebuilt, today there is a café and restaurant in the mill as well as 3 apartments and a wedding room.
The Driland Museum is dedicated to Gronau's extensive history with an exhibition on regional culture, the historical and current cross-border influences of Gronau and its surroundings as well as the textile beginnings of Gronau from the first looms to industrialization.
Along the river Dinkel towards the Netherlands or to nearby Lower Saxony, Gronau is the starting point for many exciting discovery tours by bike.The Flamingo route connects Gronau to a regional bike path.
