The Altmühl bike path as a classic is one of the most popular bike trails in Germany, 166 kilometers along the leisurely flowing Altmühl river from Gunzenhausen to Kelheim an der Donau. The Beilngries - Dietfurt sections with a stop at the Altmühl Vale Archaeological Park are special highlights. The Kinding-Beilngries section also invites cyclists to go fishing, swimming and boating. The technology museum "anno dazumal" is housed in a former mill.

For mountain bikers, the jurAKTIV tour is particularly recommended, which mainly leads on its own route and partly via economic and forest paths from Beilngries, following the Altmühl river to Dietfurt to the Altmühl's mouth in the Main-Danube Canal and via Breitenbrunn back to Beilngries .

Exhausted by extensive bike tours, the Kneipp facility with water treading pool and exercise park offers relaxation and regeneration for strained calves and tired cyclists. The idyllic Sulzpark is the ideal hot spot for relaxing hours.

Regenerated again, go to the Erlebniswelt Wasserstraße world. The courtyard of the Gösselthalmühle is the operational center of the Main-Danube Canal and at the same time a visitor and information center. Exciting information about the Main-Danube Canal is offered as well as an interactive exhibition on inland navigation and technology. At audio stations, visitors can listen to the radio communication between inland boatmen and lock keepers. Navigators, professional divers and civil engineers tell about their exciting everyday work.

A city tour through Beilngries brings history and stories together. Greetings from the Middle Ages, Rococo and Baroque. The neo-baroque parish church of Sankt Wallburga with its colorfully glazed tower helmets is a striking centerpiece, just opposite the baroque town hall of the famous architect Gabriel de Gabrieli. The diocese of Schloss Hirschberg from the 11th century is enthroned on the ledge of Hirschberg. The medieval castle complex is the largest of its kind in the Altmühl area.

The Beilngries Spielzeug-Museum is delightful. The exhibition spans from model trains to historic tin toys, dolls' kitchens and a pewter figure show. The variety makes a visit to the toy museum a highlight for the whole family.
